… and our vision
“Kaaphal Hill” is a social enterprise that aims to give travelers a real taste of Himalayan life and landscape. We are a group of Kumaon natives, who started this initiative to offer truly meaningful and memorable experiences to visitors and also to provide an economic support to our rural community and our way of life. We are highly conscious of the ecological foot print we are leaving on the fragile environment and therefore committed to responsible and sustainable practices of eco-tourism.
We would like to introduce our guests to the Himalaya and its people and their culture through guided treks and home stays.
Our farm stay facility at Kaaphal Hill is an ideal space for those who seek solitude and solace in the Himalaya. It’s also a place to experience the rhythms of rural life in a serene and soothing ambiance.
A perfect setting to relax and revive spirits in a stunning landscape of rolling hills, ever green forests and fertile valleys ringed by distant snow peaks.
We invite travelers to Kaaphal Hill for a tryst with Nature in a safe and comfortable environment. We are committed to extend our best efforts to make their experiences in the Himalayas educational and enjoyable and at the same time affordable and unforgettable.
Our social initiative is headed by Mr. Tarun Mahara, a native of Choukori, who is determined to make his true home in the hills and contribute his might to bring economic security to the local rural community. He is passionate about Bio-diversity, Nature conservation and socially and ecologically responsible entrepreneurial efforts and presently working for Himalayan Naari, a Choukori based women’s collective.
A certified mountaineer, naturalist and an instructor in Outdoor Education at a local school, he hopes to combine his interests and experience to shape Kaaphal Hill into an institution that is integral and useful to travelers and local people involved with it. In his endeavours he is supported by his family, friends and all those concerned individuals and organizations scattered far and wide across the globe.
